look at completed auctions. That way you get a general idea of the final price of an auction for that particular item.

Are you buying or selling? When buying it's customary to purchase from sellers that have very, very high ratings. It's not uncommon to see somebody with 10,000+ ratings and fewer than twelve negatives if they are truly honest and customer-oriented sellers. Although some sellers are newer, and I generally buy from them just as much, if all their buyer ratings are high, you build a reputation by buying things, getting high ratings as a buyer, then selling inexpensive items and getting high ratings with lower-priced objects, and eventually people will buy a Lear from you if you have enough A+ ratings. Basically, the feedback system is powerful, and tends towards accuracy. PayPal also offers a new buffer of safety for the buyer. If someone is a registered Power Seller/other Ebay-certified seller, and they use PayPal...I'd probably consider them about as reliable as www.walmart.com. If you have any specific questions, I can help with those too...even to the extent of searching for whatever it is you're after and explaining why an auction is or isn't a good one to buy from.

Yes, PayPal is a good thing. Anyway, I'm not worrying about ebay anymore... I got what I wanted. thisand thisThe kit had a ridiculously high reserve price (I was up to $150 and hadn't met it yet) so I figured it was probably $200 or over...and if anybody else bid I'd wind up paying more than the Buy It Now price (which was $250), so I just bought it. The camera bag, I'd bid on two other identical ones and got outbid. I wasn't home when the auction on that particular one ended...so I stuck in a higher maximum bid and just stopped worrying. And that seems to have paid off. I wound up paying $1.94 for it. Grand total including shipping: $274.25 Good, considering I looked at other "official" used camera sites, and they wanted $150-260 for ONE of the cameras in that kit....and that was just the camera BODY. No lens or anything. I think I came off quite well.

Fine. You buy me a digital camera, then. I happen to like film.

Well, I did buy a digital camera in the past several weeks. If you like film, then I'm not going to argue with that reason. Liking something is not always based on reason anyway.

Well I bought it for both of us...last time we were together we didn't get any pictures.
This time, I've got a camera with 6.2 gigapixels and the ability to store over one thousand full-quality images, or over 45 minutes of solid-quality video (with audio), and hours upon hours of quickcharge lithium-ion battery life.
It will be well worth what I paid for the little guy.
