So is anyone else tired of the pie wars and looking for an intelligent discussion? Only... I can't think of anything to discuss intelligently. So I thought maybe we could intelligently discuss intelligent discussions. Or something of the sort.

Is anything ever serious or intelligent on these boards? I don't know about you, but I have a hard time ever keeping anything serious.
Okay, Intelligent discussions. What exactly do you define as intelligent Emrys?

Hmm. Intelligent discussion of intelligent discussion on what topic? Obviously not pie...
Intelligent discussion about intelligent discussion of politics? Art? Music? Writing/literature? Ecology? People?

Intelligent in the sense that it does not involve inventing fifty billion ways to alter words to contain the word pie (eg. pionic bomb).
I was thinking (yes, I know, what a surprise...) that perhaps we coul begin a book of the month, or some such thing. This would provide new material for discussion so that we don't get tired of talking about them. For example, Tolkien has been extremely overdiscussed to the point that his works are rarely even mentioned on here anymore. I enjoyed the discussions about LOTR but we've pretty well talked that to pieces. Just a suggestion... maybe we could even have a new "Book of the Month" board.

Hmmm. Emrys, I am aware that you are widely read in fantasy, as is Alameth and a few others here, but while I also read, it's more in history/science/science fiction...
And I am not aware that all our avid members are as widely read as you. So we'd have to choose books that at least most of us have perused.

well I'm suggesting that we select books that none of us have read as of yet. Read it over the course of the month and discuss it.

Hmmmmm...I don't have regular library access. Well, I can at least watch you all's discussions. And call them infantile if I get TOO jealous.
