thanks for the board Alameth... can I talk about science fiction books here too? Like Asimov or somthin (The Foundation books rule...). Has anyone on here read the Riddlemaster trilogy by Patricia McKillip? They are some of the best books I've ever read. (the only books ever to compete with Tolkien's Lord of the Rings for the top of my favorites list)

You're welcome, my friend. And yes, sci-fi goes here too. Well... actually... I'll give you another board for that. Because I feel like making one.

Well apparently no one has read them, so I will say I think they are a required read for the fantasy lover, along with Terry Brooks, C. S. Lewis, and Lloyd Alexander. The Series is as follows:
The Riddlemaster of Hed Heir of Sea and Fire Harpist in the Wind
Harpist in the Wind is probably one of my all time favorite books. So you definately should read it. Alameth, you shouold make a reading list for fantasy lovers, there are so many good books, (I would be happy to contribute as I've read the majority of fantasy that is out there).

I just got a Patricia McKillip book out of the library.... I'm only about fifty pages in, but I love it! It's brilliant. I wish I could write like that... but I'm not nearly so creative.

Which one? Is it from the trilogy or is it like Song for the Basilisk or Alphabet of Thorn? (Alphabet of Thorn is excellent btw).

It's called "The Tower of Stony Wood".... I think... I can't remember clearly, and I'm too lazy to go get the book.

ah yes, I've yet to read that one. You should read the trilogy and Alphabet of Thorn though. I love those books.
