Derek shook the hand proffered to him.
{OOC: Couldn't think of much else to say.}

Tanda smiled, taking in all of the people surrounding her. They weren't talking much, so she didn't have to wait for them to settle down. "Alright. Let me explain this process a little more. Derek will be opening his mind to me while I try to detect the imbalance in the Force that will signify the block on his memory. Once found, that block will be eliminated by a surge of Force. It will correct the imbalance and free his memories. This is far more dangerous than it would seem, so Derek and I will need your support. Kerik will be giving me strength directly, but the rest of you need to think supportive. This will probably be worse for Derek than for me, so support him." She paused, looking for understanding. "Any questions?"

Lenna's only response was to close her eyes and begin to channel what energy and support she could into Derek.
OOC|| Blech. Short and dumb.

Derek jumped when he felt Lenna's use of the Force. Calm down. Tanda knows what she's doing. He attempted to push back the worry in his mind. I hope.
Tess squeezed her brother's hand reassuringly. "If anything goes wrong, the rest of us will help Kerrick and Tanda. You just take care of yourself."

Tanda took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She reached out with her mind, to touch Derek's. He was already jumpy, and she could feel the traces of a previous message still in his mind. It seemed that Lenna had alread spoken with him. Calm down, Derek. You'll be alright. I'm just going to send out my senses a little...bit... Tanda withdrew a little bit, recoiling from a defensive barrier. Derek was nervous! His mental defenses, the natural ones, were up and strong. Derek, I need you to relax. I can't go any farther than this until you let me into your mind. It really wasn't that she couldn't, but more that she wouldn't. Forcing her way into someone's mind was not fun for either party.

Derek forced his mental barriers down, a tad bit annoyed with himself. Sorry He attempted to relax, and this time partially succeeded. Will that work?

Thenin leaned back against the far wall watching with particularly keen interest of all that was going on around her. "Hmmm, interesting. It's almost as if I can feel them moving through Derek's mind. But that's just me, I'm no jedi." Derek's face began to tighten as Tanda reached further back into his mind...

Tanda pressed on...wondering what she would find. She wandered the normal pathways, not intruding on any doors. She would know it when she came to it. Oh my... She broke the connection. Fast. Whatever that was, that was huge. She opened her eyes, choking for breath, leaning heavily on whoever was supporting her. "That's...tough...what....what are you?"

Tanda’s words seemed to come from very far away to Derek, as he was lost in the flood of memories that had been behind the now-disintegrated barrier.
It turned out the barrier had been put up by some electronic device. It chilled him to think that someone had invented such a thing that could do this. The knowledge of how it was built, however, was gone. He knew the Sith remnant who had used it on him was no more.
He had turned to the dark side. Tess had been speaking the truth. He remembered the attack on Manaan, how he had ordered Ahto City destroyed.
Derek searched, looking for the end of his memory of the Sith. He found that he had been betrayed by one of his colleagues, his apprentice, to be more precise. The youth had used the brainwashing device on him while he hadn’t been paying attention and he had been rendered unconscious. He wondered why his apprentice hadn’t killed him.
Coming out of his reverie, he realized that Tanda, not to mention everyone else in the room was waiting for an answer to her earlier question. Unfortunately, he didn’t have one. Without another word, he got up and left the room.
