"I forgive you, Toby," Alameth said, and smiled. After all, she thought, I didn't exactly expect him to stay awake. "So, shall we?"

A young man walked through the door and surveyed the room with his sharp eyes. He stepped further into the inn and a girl came in after him, she looked around with her keen blue eyes and sat down at a wooden table in a corner. The man walked over and whispered in her ear, "Corin, do you think it wise to sit in public as so?" She looked into his grey eyes and laughed: "Jarem, you act as if this is a town full of assassins and soldiers, while it is merely a town of peasents and farmers." "You act as if you wish to be killed." "You need to relax, this is a place not like Bree, not dark and fowl, the people here are kind, so enjoy the pleasantries while we are still but here!" Jarem smiled at her words, and went to get them some ale to quench their dry mouths. Corin gazed after him and smiled.

Rayne slipped in hesistantly through the inn door, melding her dark cloak as best she could with the shadows along the walls. The door swung shut almost before she had gotten all the way through, as if it, too, wished to keep the late-evening chill away.
Rayne pushed back her hood slowly, revealing thick, dark hair and large brown eyes that searched the inn with a shy, almost frightened stare.
Not there.
The hope in her eyes turned to dismay, then resignation. She sighed wearily; it had, after all, been a long journey from Gondor to the small inn in Bywater.
"Can I help you?" asked a young woman brightly. Rayne, startled, jumped so hard her teeth rattled. Or was it the cold? She opened her mouth, trying to find her voice. Her words were soft and husky from unuse during the long ride across the mountains, hills, and plains that had brought her here.
"Um, I was... I mean, I am here looking for Icareth Falkner. My father - he was supposed to meet me here. I don't suppose you've seen him?" Rayne worridly searched the innkeeper's kind face.
"I am afraid not, dear," she told her with a sympathetic smile. "Falkner, you said? No, no one by that name has been here. I am sorry."
Rayne swallowed hard and gave Amaleth a weak smile. "Oh, that's all right," she told her as brightly as she could with disappointment settling like a stone in her stomach. "He might be a while, I guess." Like forever, maybe, she thought with more than a little bitterness. It would be so like him just never to show up... She shook the thought away as she noticed the innkeep speaking to her.
"In the mean time, can I get you anything?" she was saying. "Some food? A hot drink, maybe?"
"Oh, yes, thanks, food would be lovely. And..." She hesitated. "I might need a... room. You know, just in case I have to wait for a while."
Amaleth smiled. "Sure. Why don't you take a seat, and I'll be back soon."
Rayne settled herself onto one of the rough wooden benches that lined the tables with a growing sense of foreboding. What would she do if her father didn't come?

As Alameth got a meal for the girl, she wondered why the girl had been so disappointed at the news that her father hadn't been there. Oh, she'd tried to hide it, of course, but the disappointment was still there. She delivered the girl's meal, and asked her name. "Rayne," came the reply. Alameth smiled and introduced herself, then moved on to the pair sitting at a far table. "Can I get you anything?" she said. "Apart from what you've already had, that is," she added, eyeing the near-empty mugs of ale that sat in front of them. The young woman looked up briefly and shook her head, then went back to talking to her companion in hushed tones. Alameth walked back to Rayne's table and sat down. "Do you mind if I sit down?"

A tall, dark figure, hooded and cloaked, slipped silently into the inn. Unnoticed for the present, he sat down in a darkened corner and scanned the room with keen black eyes. A fire burned brightly on the hearth on the opposite end of the room from where he sat. There were few customers in the inn at this late hour: a young man and a young woman were engaged in a hushed converstaion; a woman, whom he knew to be the inkeeper by her garb and manner, was talking to a girl who was seated at a table, otherwise alone. The room was warm and pleasant, especially in light of the chill drizzle that had begun to fall outside.

Rayne gave the innkeep a watery smile. "No, please, sit down!" she said, moving a little to one side to make room for Alameth to sit down. There was a moment of awkward silence before the woman began to speak.
"You seem... upset," she said slowly, searching Rayne's face. "Is everything all right? Are you in some sort of trouble?"
Rayne, who had been gazing intensely at a in the tabletop, glanced up, startled. "Oh, no!" she cried, and stopped to swallow the knot that had gathered in her throat. "It just, there was someone I was expecting to meet here, right away - my father - you see? It's just, he's not here, and..." Her voice ed a little, then went on too brightly, "It's nothing. He is just a little late, that's all!" Rayne traced a patch of embroidery on the hem of her cloak, and tried to make herself believe what she had just told the innkeeper.
"I'm tired," she said suddenly. "Can I lie down?"

Telpin woke up abruptly when he fell out of the tree. I must have drifted off... he thought. 'What a strange dream!'{author's note: the dream is recorded in "Powerful Narrator"lol} on the way back to the inn, he thought about the sad trip he would make when his sister got here. His sister had never been strong in will, but the war against Souron had been too trying...

"Yes, of course," Alameth said, silently repremanding herself for not having offered sooner. The poor girl was probably exhausted. "Just follow me."
Alameth led Ranye to a small, but cozy room on the second floor of the inn. The furnishings were sparse, but comfortable. The walls were painted a comforting shade of lavendar, and the blanket that covered the bed was a rich, dark green.

Shivering, Thenin raised her head up toward the sign, "The Green Dragon; well, as long as it is warm and there is food inside." Gathering her dark green cloak around her, she pushed upon the wooden door that led into the Inn. But before she could fully open it, the wind caught it and slammed it open. Everybody glanced up to see the newcomer. "Oops, so much for slipping in unoticed," thought Thenin. Keeping her diginty, Thenin glided across the room to a table located near the left hand corner.

Alameth got Rayne settled in her room, and with a cheery "Sleep well!" she returned to the common room.
There was a new face amidst the crowd. She made her way over to the lone figure. This one would have an interesting tale, by the look of her. "Can I get you anything?" Alameth asked.

"Oh, just some water, please." Thenin replied with a smile. The young lady smiled back and made her way to get the water. Thenin watched her retreating form with interest. Noticing how she was greeted as she passed by the many tables. She was obviously known and loved by all.

A cloaked young woman on a horse road up to the inn. She had light red hair and clear blue eyes. Dismounting, she lead her horse to a post and tied his reins to it. After speaking a few soft sentences to her steed, she walked through the door and out of the rain. She saw that the innkeeper was helping another customer, so she sat down and closed her eyes. She could not remember the last time she had sat so long on a horse! Her body felt sore all over.

Telpin stepped into the inn and shook the rain out of his hair. He saw several new faces in the room and walked over to a ranger siting in a corner apparently trying not to be noticed. 'Hello there,' Telpin said, 'What's your name?'
Please take note that I finaly found a name for my charactor. Please do not use the previous "name"

Elwain appraised this elf who had come to speak with him. "That is not information I give out for the asking." There was warning and a bit of disdain in his tone. An elf should know better. "However," he continued, "You may call me Elwain. That is the name I am known by around here."

"Certainly. It's right out back. Though I'm afraid you'll have to care for your horse yourself. At the moment, I'm deprived of a stable hand." Alameth smiled ruefully. "But I'd be glad to do it, if you're too tired," she offered.

Thenin listened with interest to Alameth's conversation. "Hmmm, here was an interesting turn. She is in need of a stable hand. Perhaps..." Thenin shook her head and finished the last sip of the icy cold water. Silently she stood up and made her way toward Alameth, skillfully dodging the many and various customers in the crowded Inn.

Elwain let out a sort of half laugh-half snort of disdain. This elf was a bit too free with the giving of information. "I thank you for the offer, Telpin, but I must decline. I have several more important things to see to at this time."

A shadow approached the inn, neither in light nor dark. Her greatcloak was drawn tight about her head as she led the great white horse toward a stable at the back of this Inn. After taking care of her horse, she walked around to the front and entered. There were several people in the common room, but not a particularly large crowd. She walked up to the patron and waited as she finished her conversation with another customer.

Belnor walked up the road and stopped at the inn. "Here's a cherry place," he said and walked in the door. The first thing he saw was a Shadow standing in a eerie silence, waiting, he thought, for the innkeeper who was talking to another customer and with her back to the Shadow. He cautiously made his way across the room and sat down, eyeing the Shadow. Maybe I should have kept going. He thought, then shook his head. No, there's no other inns around for at least a three hour walk, this might not be anything. Still, he watched the Shadow.
